Typing guide

Make numbers feel natural

Build a reliable rhythm with dates, amounts and everyday data.

Choose a realistic task

Data entry may involve names, dates, reference numbers or amounts. Practice the kind of material you expect to use. Our Numbers & data mode provides fictional records so you can work on a mixture of letters, digits and punctuation.

Accuracy comes first

A missing digit can change a value completely. Slow down when you reach dates or decimal separators. Compare what you entered with the source, rather than relying on the shape of the word.

Match your equipment

A numeric keypad and the number row above the letters require different movements. Use the equipment you expect to work with, and keep device type consistent when tracking progress.

Read the actual job requirements

Employers use different assessments. Some report words per minute, others keystrokes per hour or task-specific accuracy. Check the stated test format rather than assuming one universal passing score.

Keep practice material private

Use fictional records or documents you are permitted to use. TypingPilot processes uploaded documents in your browser. You can print a personal progress report after a session, but it is not a verified employment certificate.

Put it into practice.

Take a test, review your results, and find your next small improvement.
